Beta Sigma Psi Scholarship

Beta Sigma Psi at the University of Illinois serves the distinction of being the fraternity's Alpha Chapter, meaning that it was the first to be founded. Beta Sigma Psi officially became a national fraternity on April 17, 1925. Read more about Beta Sigma Psi in the history.

Although the scholarship is closely tied with the Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran Fraternity at the University of Illinois, recipient will be under no obligation to become a member of the fraternity. All applicants will receive information about Beta Sigma Psi and the opportunities available through it. If applicants wish to cease receiving Beta Sigma Psi-related emails, they may contact the sender of any such emails with their request.

This award will be given to a Lutheran male enrolling as a freshman at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2011.

Required Materials Necessary for Applicants:
1) Completed Application Form
2) A letter of certification from the applicant's pastor

Judging Criteria:
A panel of judges will review applications based upon the following:
1) Academic Achievement
2) School Activities
3) Community Activities
4) Church Activities
5) Pastoral Recommendation
6) Essay

All applicants will be interviewed at the Alpha Chapter house and the scholarship recipient will be selected after the interviews.
